Luchamos
Juntos

Built to turn Hispanic veteran leadership into political power.

Hard Work

Service is built on discipline, persistence, and responsibility. We believe progress is earned through commitment to our families, our communities, and the country we served.

Familia

We look out for one another. Familia means loyalty, shared responsibility, and standing together across generations and throughout the veteran community. Luchamos Juntos.

A Better Life

Service should open doors for the generations that follow. We fight for opportunity, education, economic security, earned benefits, and a stronger civic voice for our families and communities.

Leadership

Leadership is a responsibility to serve. We believe in accountability, mentorship, clear purpose, and veteran leaders who earn trust by putting their communities first.

OUR MISSION

Lone Star Veteranos for Democracy empowers Texas veterans and military families to strengthen our communities, defend democracy, and make our voices heard. We bring Veteranos together around the values of service, familia, opportunity, and strong leadership because our commitment to this country did not end when we took off the uniform.

Luchamos Juntos.

New Mission. Same Oath.

Lone Star Veteranos for Democracy

John Lira is a Marine Corps combat veteran, former congressional candidate, public policy professional, and lifelong Texan who has spent more than two decades serving the country in uniform and in government.

Throughout his career—from combat deployments to Capitol Hill, from federal service to nonprofit leadership—one lesson became impossible to ignore:

Hispanic veterans remain one of the largest, most trusted, and least organized civic voices in Texas.

Lone Star Veteranos for Democracy was created to change that.

This organization exists to connect veterans with one another, elevate their stories, defend the constitutional values they swore to protect, and build a stronger culture of civic leadership across South and Southwest Texas.

John serves as the organization's founder and executive director but he is not its purpose.

The purpose is to create a platform where thousands of veterans can continue serving their communities long after military service ends.

That vision directly reflects LSVD's stated mission to empower Texas veterans, especially Latino and bilingual veterans, to defend democracy, strengthen communities, and support leaders who honor military service and constitutional values.

"Nuestro juramento no terminó cuando nos quitamos el uniforme.
Hoy seguimos sirviendo a nuestras comunidades y defendiendo la democracia."
